MARK DOLAN (C4's Balls of Steel and Sky Newspapers)
< Back to previous pageMark is the longtime resident host on Saturdays at Amused Moose Soho comedy club, stepping into Simon Amstell's shoes. Early in 2013, he did well in Let's Dance For Comic Relief as member of "Destiny's Dad" alongside fellow stand-up comedians Hal Cruttenden and Shaun Keaveny.
He is a respected radio and television presenter and host, as well as a comedian and author. With a background in radio, Dolan has continued to work in the medium for C4 radio, LBC and BBC London, and also been on numerous BBC Radio4 comedy panel shows.
Mark is probably best known as the host of Channel 4's Balls of Steel, and two television documentary series of The World's (Something) And Me, where he met "the world's most extraordinary people", such as The World's Hairiest Person, The Cat Man, and The World's Strongest Child.
These series proved very popular and continue to be aired on many channels. So popular that Mark was invited to write "The World's Most Extraordinary People ... And Me" about his experiences, and without the help of a ghost writer!
Back in the day, in his first year as a stand-up Mark was a finalist in Channel 4's So You Think You're Funny competition.
As soon as he was able Mark performed his first solo show I'm Here To Help! on the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, as well as performing it on the Southbank. He is currently planning a new solo show which will be seen at the Fringe, and again on the Southbank in London.
He first came to the viewing public's attention in 2002 after writing and performing in a Comedy Lab television series entitled The Richard Taylor Interviews.
In 2006, he was involved in the launch of More4 as the host of The Last Word, a nightly topical discussion show. Mark has also fronted shows for E4, including its launch comedy series, Show Me The Funny, and is vocal presenter of the Urban Legends series on Five
Recently Mark has presented Sky Movies weekly movie-news show "35mm"and hosted C4's The Mad Bad Ad Show
